About Sara:

My lifelong passion for movement and wellness is what first drew me to the practice of yoga in 2008 as I was looking for a compliment to strength training, cycling and snowboarding. I continued to hone my yoga practice over the years but after a lifetime of high intensity training, I found myself in a painful and lengthy recovery from a hip labral tear surgery in 2012.  Yoga is truly what brought me back and it was then that I came to truly realize the transformative power yoga has, not only on the body, but both introspectively and by becoming part of the yoga community.

Sara received her 200-hour certification through her teacher training with the Boston Yoga School in 2016. Through her teaching, Sara strives to create a space of connectivity, acceptance and exploration while allowing her students the freedom to find balance, strength, and their path to self-discovery.

See you Downtown on Saturday mornings…. Namaste!

Art & Funk Show This Friday to Celebrate Downtown Venue

This Friday, April 10th, we will be hosting Art & Funk, from 7-10pm at Focus, 222 Bleecker Street in Downtown Utica. This is the grand opening of Focus, the former Level Bar & Lounge. Focus is a bar, art venue and waffle house focusing, easy pun, on local art.

Art & Funk is free to attend. Art & Funk will feature pieces for sale from ten local artists, music by Funkadelic Conception and food and drink specials. Made In Utica wants people to come out and have a unique experience in this newly re-branded Downtown Utica venue.

“We want to change the perception of our city. With renewed interest in downtown preservation we feel this event is a perfect way for the community to help re-launch a local business while supporting local artists,” said Made In Utica co-founder Justin Parkinson.

Made In Utica formed in May 2014 to highlight and connect businesses, artisans, organizations and residents from Utica and the surrounding areas. The group distributed over 200 Utica Passports in Summer 2014, which offered unique specials to area businesses. Art & Funk kicks off the 2015 Utica Passport season, with free Passports to the first 25 Art & Funk attendees and special pre-sale offers.
